Omegon 114/500 Newtonian EQ-1: compact wide-field Newtonian

The Omegon 114/500 Newton EQ-1 combines a substantial 114 mm mirror with a short focal length of 500 mm (f/4.4). That delivers a bright, wide view: complete star clusters, the entire Moon, and bright nebulae at a glance. With a total weight of about 8 kilos, this is the most portable 114 mm in the line.

A Newtonian reflector works with mirrors instead of lenses: large aperture for little money and a color-aberration-free image. Occasional collimation (aligning mirrors) is part of it; that can be done in a few minutes.

Broad scope first, detail as a bonus

With the 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, you view at 20x and 50x; the 2x Barlow brings you to 40x and 100x. The power lies in the low magnifications: the 114 mm mirror gathers about 265 times more light than the naked eye, making the Orion Nebula and bright star clusters truly come alive.

For high planetary magnifications, the short tube is less suitable; anyone who primarily wants planets should choose the 114/900.

EQ-1 with counterweight and slow-motion control

The EQ-1 equatorial mount tracks objects with a twist knob, and the red dot finder makes targeting easy. Accessory tray and counterweight are included.
