Vaonis

Vaonis Vespera: the smart telescope as a design object

Vaonis from France makes the Vespera: a smart telescope that looks and feels different from the Seestar or DWARF. Sleek housing, no loose parts, an app built around the experience. Under the hood lies the same technology: automatic searching, tracking, and stacking into a color image on your phone. The price difference with the Seestar lies in the finish, sensor size, and the mosaic function that allows the Vespera to capture a larger piece of the sky in a single image.

Vespera II, Pro, and III

The Vespera II is the entry-level model: 50 mm quadruplet optics and a sensor larger than that of the Seestar S30 Pro. The Vespera Pro adds a higher resolution for those who want to print or crop heavily. The Vespera III is the latest generation. You can read how the Vespera II compares to our best-selling model in Seestar S30 Pro vs Vespera IIthe honest answer is that the Seestar does more per euro and the Vespera produces better results per capture.

Accessories that go with it

Vaonis supplies the accessories that come in the box with the Seestar separately: the standard tripod whether it adjustable tripod, the solar filter for sunspots during the day, the dual band filter for mists under a light sky, the hygrometer with anti-condensation for the Dutch autumn and backpack. Factor that into your comparison.

For whom

Choose a Vespera if finish and experience matter, if you want to capture large objects in a single mosaic, or if you also see the device as an object in your home. Choose a Seestar S30 Pro if you want the most results per euro. All smart telescopes side by side: smart telescopes; the choice between smart and classic: smart telescope or classical Dobson.
