If you decide to purchase a new telescope from us after the rental period, we will deduct the full rental price paid (excluding shipping costs) directly from the purchase price of your new telescope! This way, you can test the equipment extensively in your own environment first, and the rental period will effectively be free in hindsight.

How do you rent and receive the telescope?
Renting your telescope is arranged in just a few clicks. Choose your favorite model, select the desired dates (with a minimum rental period of 3 daysand the system will immediately and automatically calculate your rate. After payment, your booking is immediately confirmed!
When ordering, you can choose how you want to receive the telescope. Any shipping costs will be displayed directly in your shopping cart. You have three options:
Courier delivery and pickup (Netherlands only): Our courier service will neatly deliver the telescope to your home or a location of your choice. At the end of the rental period, we will also pick it up from there. This is the perfect choice for those who want complete peace of mind and want to be sure that the telescope is transported with care.
Ship by mail Would you prefer to receive the telescope via package delivery? That's possible. The telescope will be delivered to your home, securely and safely packaged. Afterwards, you can simply send it back using the included return label. So you don't have to arrange anything yourself.
Self collection and return: Do you live nearby or would you prefer to pick up the telescope yourself? This is of course free of charge by appointment at our location. You will also return it in person here after the rental period.
Notice: As a tenant, you are responsible for properly receiving the package or picking it up/making it ready at the agreed-upon time. Whichever option you choose, we ensure you receive a perfectly maintained, ready-to-use telescope that has been fully inspected by us both before and after each rental period.

Where is the best place to observe?
Although you can already see beautiful details of the moon and planets from a backyard, a telescope truly comes into its own under a dark sky. We offer you an attractive discount on the purchase price and apply a portion of the rent already paid directly to the purchase amount. Rental Terms & Guidelines
These terms and conditions outline the binding agreements and guidelines of our rental policy. By placing an order and completing payment on Telescoop.nl, you expressly agree to these terms and conditions.
1. Minimum rental period and extension
The minimum rental period is 3 days. Extension is only possible in consultation and based on availability in our booking system. Extensions must be requested and paid for before the original end date. In case of late return of the equipment without written permission, we will be forced to charge a penalty of twice the daily rate per day of default, in addition to any damage claims from subsequent renters. This will be deducted directly from the security deposit.
2. Reimbursement
A fixed deposit applies to each telescope, depending on the model's value. This amount is automatically calculated and paid simultaneously with the rental fee during checkout. Upon return, the equipment undergoes an immediate thorough technical and optical inspection. If the telescope, including all included accessories and transport materials, is returned in impeccable condition and according to guidelines, we will fully refund the deposit to your account within 5 business days.
3. Receipt inspection (Reporting obligation)
As a tenant, you are obliged to inspect the telescope and accessories immediately upon receipt (by mail or courier) for any defects or transport damage. Any imperfections must within 12 hours of receipt must be reported in writing and accompanied by clear photos via [email protected]. Reports submitted after this deadline or only after use cannot be accepted; in such cases, it will be assumed that the damage occurred during your rental period.
4. Damage, Loss, and Liability
No cleaning, strictly forbidden: It is the tenant not You are permitted to clean, remove, or polish the optical elements (lenses and mirrors) yourself. This will cause irreparable scratches (coating damage). Costs for repairing or replacing optical components due to incorrect cleaning will be fully charged to the renter.
Excluded from coverage: Damage due to negligence, accidental or impact damage, theft, loss, tampering/disassembly of parts, or use during adverse weather conditions (rain, storm, extreme humidity, sand/dust, or salty sea air) is the sole responsibility of the renter.
Packaging The equipment must be packed exactly as it was upon receipt, using the original cases, custom foam, and protective caps. Damage resulting from careless or incorrect packing for return transport will be fully charged to the renter.
Residual liability: If the repair or replacement costs exceed the security deposit held, the tenant remains legally liable for the remaining amount up to the full new value of the equipment.
5. Cancellation and Amendment
Because the telescopes are specifically reserved for your dates and blocked for other customers, we have a strict cancellation policy.
Cancellation up to 48 hours before the scheduled delivery date is free of charge; you will receive the full amount, including the deposit, back.
If you cancel between 24 and 48 hours before delivery, we will charge 50% of the rental price (the deposit will be refunded in full).
In case of cancellation within 24 hours of delivery, or failure to accept the package, the full rental fee will be due.
6. Privacy and GDPR
We process your personal data (such as address and payment details) exclusively for the administrative and logistical handling of the rental agreement in accordance with the GDPR. Data will only be shared with third parties when necessary for the execution (such as courier or parcel services). For more information, please refer to our privacy statement.
7. Terms and Conditions 'Rent-to-Own'
If, at the end of the rental period, the renter purchases a new, unused telescope through Telescoop.nl, they may be eligible for the 'Rent First, Then Buy' program. The following strict conditions apply:
Offsetting Only the net rental amount (the basic rental price of the telescope) will be deducted from the purchase price of the new telescope. Transportation costs, administrative costs, or the security deposit already paid are not included in this arrangement.
Validity period The purchase of the new telescope should be completed by 14 calendar days after the official end of the rental period has been completed to claim the offset. After that, the offer expires definitively.
One-time character This offer is valid once per customer, per rental period, and is not transferable to third parties. The discount cannot be accumulated by combining multiple consecutive rental periods.
Disclaimer The scheme only applies to the purchase of a complete telescope set and cannot be used for the separate purchase of accessories, eyepieces, or mounts, unless otherwise agreed in writing. The discount can never exceed the purchase price of the new product and will not be paid out in cash.
