Sky-Watcher Heritage-150P FlexTube: the larger sibling of the bestseller
The Sky-Watcher Heritage-150P FlexTube is a tabletop Dobsonian telescope with a 150 mm (6-inch) parabolic primary mirror and a focal length of 750 mm (f/5). That mirror gathers about 33% more light than the 130P and about 460 times more than the naked eye. The retractable FlexTube design keeps it compact enough for the backseat or a closet. More mirror area for a relatively small additional cost: that’s exactly why this model, along with the 130P, has been at the top of our Dobson assortment state.
What do you see through the Heritage 150P?
Everything the 130P shows, but with more detail and depth. On the Moon, you can see fine crater structures along the shadow line. Jupiter reveals its cloud bands and the four large moons, and Saturn shows its rings. You’ll notice the difference from smaller mirrors most clearly when observing deep-sky objects: globular clusters begin to resolve into individual stars, the Orion Nebula reveals more structure, and under a dark sky, fainter galaxies become visible. FlexTube: 6-inch that you take everywhere
By retracting the rods, the tube becomes a compact package that fits into a large backpack or on the back seat. Extend, lock, and look: it's ready in under a minute. The manual table-top Dobsonian mount requires no power or alignment. Place it on a sturdy table or crate and smoothly move the tube by hand across the sky.
This is how to get the most out of this telescope
These tips come from our own experience and from what buyers tell us:
- Don't underestimate the underground. The 150P is heavier than smaller tabletop models. A sturdy table, stool, or solid chest makes a difference at higher magnifications.
- Shield the open tube. A light shroud around the open FlexTube section blocks stray light from lanterns and increases contrast. This is the most common DIY upgrade for this series.
- Give the mirror a cooling time. Place the telescope outside 30 minutes before observing for a calm, sharp image.
- Check the collimation after transport. At f/5, mirror alignment is critical. With the included collimation cap, it's a two-minute check; in our guide to collimation It is step by step.
- Stay realistic with magnification. The 10mm eyepiece provides 75x magnification. With a 6 mm planetary eyepiece (125x) brings your planet details forward. Above 150x to 200x, the Dutch atmosphere rarely provides additional detail.

Not For long exposures of nebulae and galaxies, the equatorial mount is not made; look for the smart telescopes. What does work well and provides a lot of fun: moon photos with a smartphone adapter on the eyepiece. The moon is bright enough for short shutter speeds, so the lack of tracking is not a problem.
