Omegon 72 mm Quintuplet Refractor: five elements, full-size, zero compromises
The Omegon 72 mm Quintuplet It is the top-of-the-line among compact astrophotographs: five lens elements, two of which are ED, with a built-in corrector that keeps the field of view flat to a 44 mm circle of vision. Full-frame cameras are fully utilized, sharp from corner to corner, without separate flatners or distance rings.
An apochromat converges all colors to a focal point. Stars remain white and point-like, without the purple edges of simple lenses: precisely what a camera sensor would mercilessly reveal.
Built around the camera
With a 400 mm focal length (f/5.6), this tube captures large nebula complexes and galaxy structures in a frame. The 3 inch focus with 1:10 reduction and 55 mm adjustment range carries heavy camera loads without warping, and the backfocus of 140 mm provides space for filter wheels and off-axis guides.
The tube is short enough at 317 mm for medium-sized travel gear. A transport case is available separately.
Included
- Quintuplet 72/400 lens with two ED elements
- Built-in corrector (image circle 44 mm)
- 3 inch focus lens with 1:10 reduction and 55 mm adjustment range
Featured accessories
The Omegon Pro UHC 2-inch filter (89 euros) brings up emission mist under a clear sky, and the Omegon Powerbank 10k 12V (39.90 euros) keeps the camera and mounting equipment powered for an entire night.
For whom yes, for whom no
Well: demanding astrophotographers with a full-frame camera who want a compact system without the correction puzzle. Not: those who also want to view visually or are just starting out; the AP 71/490 or the 61/360 with a reducer offer more for less money. Are you unsure between the models?
