Sky-Watcher WAVE-100i: ten kilos of payload capacity in a carry-on mount
The WAVE-100i brings strain wave technology to an even more compact format. The harmonic drive carries up to 10 kg with a dead weight of only 4.3 kg, without a mandatory counterweight. For anyone wanting to travel with a medium-weight APO or Newtonian, this is one of the lightest fully-fledged mounts available.

The mount operates in both equatorial and Alt-AZ modes, with polar alignment from 0 to 90 degrees. You operate it via WiFi or Bluetooth using the SynScan Pro app, or via PC. GoTo, autoguiding, and PEC are supported. The RA brake prevents accidental rotation when the power is off, which is useful during setup and teardown.
Included
- WAVE-100i mounting head with strain wave drive
- Dual-fit saddle for Vixen and Losmandy rails
- Heavy-duty transport case
Featured accessories
The Sky-Watcher WAVE Carbon Fiber tripod is the matching base; the optional SynScan hand controller provides physical control.
For whom yes, for whom no
Good for: traveling astrophotographers with optics up to 10 kg who want to save maximum weight and setup time. Not for: those carrying more than 10 kg, choose the WAVE-150i instead.
