Sky-Watcher Skyliner-300P FlexTube SynScan GoTo: 12 inch with autopilot
This version combines the 305 mm parabolic mirror (f/4.9) of the Skyliner-300P with SynScan GoTo: the mount finds objects from a database of 42,900 and tracks them. Thanks to the dual-encoder design, you can simply move the tube by hand in between without re-aligning. The biggest time savings of GoTo are precisely at this size: the mirror can show faint objects that are difficult to find manually.

What do you see through the 300P GoTo?
Optically identical to the manual 300P: 44% more light than a 10-inch telescope, spiral structure in bright galaxies, detailed nebulae, and sharp planets. The difference lies in what you can accomplish each evening: the SynScan computer strings together objects that you would otherwise have to locate one by one, and the automatic tracking keeps every target steady in view at high magnification.
Crayford focuser with T2: ready for a camera experiment
The 2-inch Crayford focuser has a T2 mount that allows you to directly connect a DSLR or system camera for short shots of the moon and planets. For visual work, the included adapters accept any standard eyepiece.
This is how to get the most out of this telescope
- To them, in part: Separate your telescope and motorized rocker box. Plan the route to your observation spot on it.
- Close the open section: A light shroud around the extended truss keeps stray light and dew out. The standard upgrade for FlexTube models.
- Allow 60 minutes for cooling. For the large mirror, especially in winter.
- Collimation at f/4.9 is a fixed ritual on transport; our guide to collimation It takes two minutes.
- Use a power tank: The GoTo motors run on 12V and cold nights drain battery capacity. An external battery will keep it going all night.
- For planets: a 6 mm planetary eyepiece provides 250x, for the better nights; this mirror size can handle that perfectly on good nights.
For whom yes and for whom no
Hello deep-sky hunters who want to spend their observation time looking instead of searching, and observers who want to keep objects stable in the field of view at high magnification.
Not Those who prefer to put the GoTo budget into optics choose the manual Skyliner-300P FlexTube. Long exposures remain with the smart telescopes; Short camera recordings via the T2 connection can actually be made here.
Featured accessories
These accessories add the most after purchase:
- Moon Filter 13%: With this mirror size, the moon is blindingly bright. The Omegon Moon Filter 13% (1.25 inches) dims the light and increases the contrast. More explanation is in our Moon filter guide.
- A 6mm planetary eyepiece: the Sky-Watcher 6mm Planetary UWA Eyepiece this telescope provides 250x magnification for the better nights. If you want to go a step higher, there is also the 5 mm version (300x).
- Cheshire eyepiece the Sky-Watcher Cheshire Eyepiece Aligning the mirrors is more accurate than the included tools. With these fast opening ratios, it's not a luxury but a essential piece.
