Omegon Pro RC 406/3250 Truss OTA 406mm Ritchey-Chrétien: 16-inch RC for the sharpest price
The Omegon Pro RC 406/3250 Truss brings 16-inch Ritchey-Chrétien optics to the sharpest possible price: hyperbolic quartz mirrors with a honeycomb primary mirror in an open carbon truss design. Razor-sharp across a large field of view, without distortion or coma, all the way to the edge of large-format sensors.
A Ritchey-Chrétien uses two hyperbolic mirrors: the design of virtually every professional observatory. The result is a large, coma-free field of view without a corrector: stars remain round all the way to the edges of the sensor.
The open carbon truss construction is the recipe of professional observatories: rigid, light, and thermally stable, with natural ventilation that prevents its own microclimate inside the tube. The built-in 12V fan cools the primary mirror up to twice as fast, so you're working at full sharpness sooner.

The final piece of the RC line
The quartz mirrors keep the focus stable during temperature fluctuations: adjustment is hardly necessary, even deep into the night. The ball-bearing 3-inch monorail focuser illuminates large-format image fields without vignetting, and the powerful fan shortens the cool-down time of the large mirror.
Extensions and a Losmandy dovetail complete the equipment; count on an observatory mount and a permanent setup.

Featured accessories
The Omegon Pro UHC 2-inch filter (89 euros) brings out emission nebulae, and the Omegon Powerbank 10k 12V (39.90 euros) powers the fan and camera in the observatory.
For whom yes, for whom no
For: observatories and very advanced astrophotographers looking for maximum aperture per euro in the RC design. Not for: those who want to minimize the load on the mount; the Lightweight version pushes the mirror mass down even further. Are you doubting between the models? The Choice assistant helpt.
