Vaonis Vespera Dual Band Filter: nebulae in full contrast

The Vaonis dual band filter is the specialized nebula filter for the Vespera. The narrowband interference filter transmits exclusively the two main emission lines of nebulae: hydrogen-alpha (H-alpha) and oxygen-III (O-III). All other light, including light pollution and moonlight, is blocked.

Emission nebulae, planetary nebulae, and supernova remnants therefore stand out against a virtually black background, even from the city and even with a bright moon.

Automatically recognized

The integrated chip registers the filter with the station as soon as you snap it on. The Singularity app automatically adjusts the recording and image processing to match it.

For which objects

Think of the Orion Nebula, the North America Nebula, the Veil Nebula, and the Dumbbell Nebula: objects that emit in H-alpha and O-III. Galaxies and star clusters emit broadband; for those, the CLS filter or no filter is the better choice.

Included

  • Vespera dual band filter with integrated chip

Featured accessories

The dual-band filter and the CLS filter complement each other: narrowband for nebulae, broadband for everything else. If you are shooting on humid nights, also consider the hygrometer against dew.

For whom yes and for whom no

  • ✓ Vespera owners who want to get the most out of emission nebulae
  • ✓ City photographers: the filter works especially well under light-polluted skies and in moonlight
  • ✗ Those who primarily photograph galaxies and star clusters: those objects gain nothing from a narrowband filter
