Sky-Watcher 2 inch Aplanatic Coma Corrector f/4

Four-element aplanatic coma corrector for fast f/4 Newtonians like the Quattro line: round stars all the way to the corners, with 2-inch barrel, M48 camera side, and filter thread.

Sky-Watcher Cheshire Collimatie Oculair (1,25 inch)

Classic Cheshire collimation eyepiece in 1.25 inch: accurately align your Newtonian mirrors without batteries or electronics. The reliable reference tool.

Sky-Watcher 2 inch Light Pollution Filter

Broadband light pollution filter in 2 inch: suppresses streetlights for a darker background and more contrast, also in the light path of correctors and 2 inch eyepieces.

Omegon Maanfilter 13% Transmissie 1,25 inch

Moon filter with 13 percent transmission for telescopes from approximately 200 mm. The strong damping makes observing around the full moon comfortable.

Sky-Watcher Quattro-300P: the f/4 flagship

The Sky-Watcher Quattro-300P is the ultimate imaging Newtonian in the series: 305/1200mm at f/4. Twelve inches of aperture at full speed, for the photographer who wants to capture faint structures where others integrate for hours. The 21.8 kg tube belongs on an EQ8-class mount or fixed pier.

Sky-Watcher Quattro-300P Imaging Newtonian Optical Tube

What can you photograph with it?

Everything where signal counts: faint nebulae, vast H-alpha regions, galaxies, and dust lanes. Where a slower system integrates for hours, an f/4 system captures the same on the sensor in half the time. Visually (with its own eyepieces), it is also a bright deep-sky telescope with a surprisingly sharp image in the center.

Why a Quattro?

The Quattro line is Sky-Watcher's fastest Newton series: f/4 means four times as much signal per minute as an f/8 system. The dual-speed Linear Power focuser (10:1) holds cameras without sagging and focuses at the pixel level. Note the honest disclaimer: no eyepiece is included. This is an astrograph; visual use is excellent, but with your own eyepieces.

This is how to get the most out of this telescope

  • Collimation at f/4 is surgical work: check for every session with a good collimator. Our guide to collimation describes the routine.
  • The aplanatic corrector belongs with it: Without a corrector, f/4 stars are comet-shaped at the edge. Factor this into the purchase, not afterwards.
  • Mounting choice: EQ8 class or fixed pier; this is observatory equipment and you should treat it as such.
  • Guiding the moon At this brightness, every arcsecond of pointing accuracy counts in the star points.
  • Format: 21.8 kg tube: rely on two people or a permanent setup.
  • Give the mirror some cooling time and consider a light shroud against stray light and dew.
  • Visual assistance a 6 mm eyepiece magnifies 200x; but bring your own eyepieces, there are none in the box.

For whom yes and for whom no

Hello The photographer with observatory ambitions for whom speed and aperture both need to be maximized.

Not Without a heavy fixed setup, this potential remains untapped; If you want photo results without mounting, guiding, and post-processing, then the smart telescopes the shorter route; ours Telescope Buying Guide for Beginners explain the trade-off.

Featured accessories

These accessories add the most after purchase:

  • Aplanatic coma corrector f/4 at f/4, a corrector is not an option but a part of the optical system. The Sky-Watcher 2 inch Aplanatic Coma Corrector is specifically designed for the Quattro line and is a standard component.
  • Cheshire eyepiece the Sky-Watcher Cheshire Eyepiece makes the critical f/4 collimation accurate and repeatable.
  • Light Pollution Filter (2 inch) gets merk more contrast out of your shots under Dutch or Belgian skies.
  • Moon Filter 13%: with this opening, the moon is blindingly bright; the Omegon Moon Filter 13% (1.25 inches) The light fades. More explanation in our Moon filter guide.
