Sky-Watcher SkyMax-90 (OTA): de zakformaat-planetenkijker

De Sky-Watcher SkyMax-90 is een Maksutov-Cassegrain met 90 mm opening en 1250 mm brandpuntsafstand (f/13,9) in een buis die in bijna elke tas past. Dit is de losse optische buis (OTA) zonder montering: je zet hem op een eigen montering of via de fotostatief-aansluiting op een stevig fotostatief. Maximale planeetscherpte per euro en per kilo.

Wat zie je door de SkyMax-90?

De maan toont haarscherpe kraters, bergketens en schaduwspel. Jupiter laat zijn wolkenbanden zien, Saturnus zijn ringen en Venus zijn fasen. Dubbelsterren splijt deze optiek verrassend goed voor zijn formaat. Heldere deep-sky doelen zoals de Orionnevel kunnen ook, maar het smalle beeldveld maakt planeten en maan het echte specialisme.

Loose tubing: your mounting, your choice

De OTA-uitvoering is er voor wie al een montering heeft of bewust licht wil reizen. Dankzij de standaard fotostatief-aansluiting werkt hij ook op een degelijk fotostatief voor maan, planeten en natuurobservatie overdag. De 1,25 inch aansluiting met 90 graden star diagonal maakt comfortabel kijken direct mogelijk.

This is how to get the most out of this telescope

• Give the thick correction lens cooling time: 30 to 45 minutes outside before looking at high magnification. A Maksutov rewards patience with a rock-steady image.
• Protect against dew The front-mounted meniscus lens fogs up faster than a mirror. A dew shield is the most useful first upgrade for this type of telescope.
• Virtually maintenance-free The closed tube keeps dust out and collimation is rarely an issue. Set it down and look.
• Magnification: het 10 mm oculair geeft al 125x; precies waar deze optiek voor gemaakt is. Meer vergroting toevoegen heeft in het Nederlandse klimaat zelden zin.

Not voor brede deep-sky-velden is het beeldveld van deze lange brandpuntsafstand te smal; een korte Newton past daar beter bij.
