Sky-Watcher Skyliner-250PX FlexTube GoTo: 10 inch self-aligning
The Sky-Watcher Skyliner-250PX FlexTube GoTo combines a 254mm (10 inch, f/4.7) parabolic mirror with a computer-controlled Dobsonian mount. Via the SynScan hand controller, you can choose from over 42,900 objects; the telescope will locate them and track them, even at high magnification. The retractable FlexTube tube keeps the entire unit portable. In our Dobson assortment Is this the entry into large GoTo Dobsonians?.

What do you see through the 250PX?
With 56%—which provides more light output than an 8-inch telescope—globular clusters resolve into individual stars, nebulae reveal their structure, and you can see details on planets such as the Cassini Division in Saturn’s rings and Jupiter’s cloud bands. The main difference from the manual 10-inch model lies in tracking: at 200x magnification, a planet simply stays in the field of view, allowing for long, relaxed viewing sessions.
GoTo with the freedom of a Dobson
Thanks to the dual encoders, you can always move the tube by hand without losing alignment. Quickly swing to the moon yourself and then let it automatically track again: it's possible to do both. The 2-inch Crayford focuser with a 1.25-inch adapter and T2 connection also allows for quick camera experiments on the moon and planets.
This is how to get the most out of this telescope
- To them, in part: The tube weighs 15 kg, the motorized rocker box is separate from that. Plan the route to your observation spot on it.
- Close the open section: A light shroud around the extended truss keeps stray light and dew out. The standard upgrade for FlexTube models.
- Allow 45 to 60 minutes for cooling. For the large mirror, especially in winter.
- Collimation at f/4.7 is a fixed ritual on transport; our guide to collimation It takes two minutes.
- Use a power tank: The GoTo motors run on 12V and cold nights drain battery capacity. An external battery will keep it going all night.
- For planets: a 6 mm planetary eyepiece This 200x mirror can perfectly handle that on good nights.
For whom yes and for whom no
Hello Deep-sky observers who want to automate their search, and anyone who wants to see the most on short, clear evenings. Also great for those new to the sky: the SynScan database is a teacher.
Not who prefers to put the entire budget into mirrors, gets the manual Skyliner 250P FlexTube or the Skyliner-200P Classic. long exposures remain the domain of the smart telescopes; Short moon and planet shots via the T2 connection or a smartphone adapter are quite achievable with this system.
Featured accessories
These accessories add the most after purchase:
- Moon Filter 13%: With this mirror size, the moon is blindingly bright. The Omegon Moon Filter 13% (1.25 inches) dims the light and increases the contrast. More explanation is in our Moon filter guide.
- A 6mm planetary eyepiece: the Sky-Watcher 6mm Planetary UWA Eyepiece This telescope provides 200x magnification.
- Cheshire eyepiece the Sky-Watcher Cheshire Eyepiece Aligning the mirrors is more accurate than the included tools. With these fast opening ratios, it's not a luxury but a essential piece.
- Carrier bag protects the optics on the go. View the carrier bags and choose the size that fits this model.
