The Explore Scientific Apochromatic refractor AP 127/952 ED Alu Essential OTA is a powerful 127 mm triplet refractor that offers exceptional contrast and color correction - ideal for advanced observers and astrophotographers.
The optical design consists of three lenses with FCD-1 ED glass from Hoya (Japan) and two air blanks. This provides color error correction well above that of standard two-lens ED refractors. With a calculated polystrehl of >0.9 compared to the 0.8 of conventional models, this telescope offers razor-sharp, color-neutral images even at high magnifications. The solid aluminum tube and precise Crayford focuser with 1:10 fine adjustment ensure stable focusing and reliable support for heavier cameras.
Thanks to the tube length of 952 mm (f/7.5), this model optimally combines brightness and resolution. With a suitable field flattener (sold separately), you can also use the telescope excellently for astrophotography, with a completely flat field of view to the edges of the sensor. The OTA features tube rings, a dew cap and a standard T-profile accessory shoe for easy attachment of viewfinders or guide scopes.
The 127 mm aperture offers significantly higher light output than a 100 mm refractor, making this model suitable for observing both bright planets and fainter deep-sky objects such as the Orion Nebula or globular clusters. Explore Scientific's build quality ensures stability, precision and durability - exactly what you expect in the Essential Line.
Application:
This 127 mm apochromatic refractor is ideal for:
- detailed observation of the Moon and planets;
- sharp representation of nebulae and galaxies;
- astrophotography with DSLR or CMOS cameras;
- visual deep-sky observation with high contrast display.
Not suitable for solar observation without a special solar filter.
Suitable for advanced observers demanding high image quality in a robust OTA, with room for later expansion (mount, flattener, cameras).
