More lens, more detail, same smart guide
The Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 80 AZ is the larger brother in the LT refractor line. The 80mm lens with a 900mm focal length captures over 30 percent more light than the 70mm entry-level model and provides a steadier image at higher magnifications. The StarSense Explorer app turns your smartphone into a guide that leads you step-by-step to the Moon, planets, and bright deep-sky objects.

Navigating with plate solving on your phone
Place your smartphone in the StarSense dock and launch the app. The camera recognizes star patterns and determines exactly where the telescope is pointed. On-screen arrows guide you to your target. Once the reticle turns green, the object is in the eyepiece. The app also compiles a list of the best objects for your location each night.

Long focal length: strong on Moon and planets
With f/11.3, this refractor is a true planet-watching telescope. The long focal length provides high contrast and minimal chromatic aberration. The 25mm and 10mm eyepieces deliver 36x and 90x magnification, respectively, and the included 2x Barlow doubles that. Realistically usable magnification is up to about 160x: enough for Saturn's rings, Jupiter's cloud bands, and sharp lunar craters.
