Flat field of view without a flattener: the compact travel astrograph
The ZWO FF65 APO is a five-lens quintuplet astrograph with ED glass that provides a completely flat field of view for full-frame sensors and beyond, with no separate flattener and no back-focus calculations. With a 65mm aperture, 416mm focal length (f/6.4), and a low weight, this is the entry point into serious deep-sky photography that works right out of the box.
Why a flatfield design?
With classic refractors, the distance between the flattener and the sensor determines edge sharpness, and that's precise to a tenth of a millimeter. The FF65 has that correction built in: screw on the camera and start shooting, with pinpoint stars all the way to the corners. The ED glass keeps chromatic aberration tight, even around bright stars.

For the (aspiring) astrophotographer who wants sharp wide-field shots directly without optical calculations, even when traveling. Not for: visual observers; this is a photographic tube with no eyepiece included.
