Large light jump, wide field of view

The Zoomion 114 mm EQ The (Philae 114 EQ) is a compact, short-focal-length Newtonian telescope, for beginners taking the step up from an entry-level azimuthal mount to a true equatorial mount. The 114 mm mirror offers a significant leap in light-gathering ability: over 260 times more light than the naked eye.

Quick results thanks to f/4.4

With a focal length of 500 mm and an aperture ratio of f/4.4, the Philae delivers bright, wide-field images. The Moon shows thousands of craters with contrasting shadows, and Jupiter and Saturn are clearly recognizable with cloud bands and rings. The wide field of view makes finding objects easy, which is great for beginners who want quick results.

EQ-1 mount and red dot finder

After aligning on Polaris, you manually track objects along a single axis: the basis of astronomical tracking and a step towards more serious observing. The red dot finder helps with aiming, and with the 20mm and 12.5mm eyepieces plus the 2x Barlow lens, you get from 25x to 80x; realistically useful is up to about 225x with shorter eyepieces as a later expansion.

In the box

  • Optical tube 114/500
  • EQ-1 equatorial mount with counterweight
  • Aluminum tripod, height adjustable
  • 20 mm and 12.5 mm eyepieces
  • 2x Barlow lens
  • Red dot finder
  • Manual

Featured accessories

A Omegon Premium Moon Filter 1.25 inch (19.90 euros) the bright moon is held comfortably; it is not included in the set. With the Omegon Smartphone Adapter 25 to 48 mm (14.90 euros) you take your first Moon photo through the eyepiece. The bright Moon requires short shutter speeds, so the lack of automatic tracking doesn't play a role there.

For whom yes, for whom no

Recommended for beginners looking for their first real telescope: bright, user-friendly, and with a mount that allows you to learn to work like an astronomer. Not recommended for those primarily seeking high magnifications on planets; the longer Zoomion 150mm EQ provides a steadier image for that.
