Nagler-Petzval: flat field without a flattener

The TeleVue NP-101is is a premium apochromat for demanding astrophotographers and experienced observers. The four-lens Nagler-Petzval design in two ED groups delivers a flat, almost completely chromatic aberration-free image field at 101mm aperture and 540mm focal length (f/5.3), without a separate field flattener.

Imaging System Execution

This is the photographically optimized version: the high-quality fine-focus focuser is motor-ready for the focusing accuracy required by high-resolution photography. Stars remain sharp to the edge, even on larger sensors. Visually, the tube delivers razor-sharp images of the Moon and planets, as well as wide, high-contrast star fields. A magnification of up to approximately 200x is realistically meaningful.
