Omegon Maanfilter 13% Transmissie 1,25 inch

Moon filter with 13% transmission and 1.25 inch filter thread, for telescopes with an opening of approximately 200 mm.

  • Fits: screws into the filter thread at the bottom of each 1.25 inch eyepiece. Not for 2 inch eyepieces; there is a 2 inch version for that.
  • For what: the moon during a full moon by a 200 or 250 mm Dobson, and Venus and Jupiter. Blocks 87% of the light, the color remains neutral.
  • On a telescope up to 150 mm, the image becomes too dark; use the 25% version instead. If in doubt, use the 25%.
  • Aluminium casing, Basic series. Do not use in the sun.

Sky-Watcher SmartPhoto+ Smartphone Adapter (Inclusief 20 mm Foto-Oculair)

Smartphone adapter with its own 20 mm photo eyepiece (1.25 inch) for telescopes with a 1.25 inch eyepiece holder.

  • Fits: any 1.25 inch eyepiece holder and virtually any smartphone. Magnification: brandpoint divided by 20, so 33x at 650 mm and 60x at 1200 mm.
  • For what: the moon. Jupiter and Saturn remain small; nebulas are not visible with a phone held to the eyepiece.
  • The eyepiece is adapted for phone cameras: no dark edge on the sensor. With your own eyepiece, the universal adapter is sufficient.
  • In the box: holder and eyepiece. On a light level adjuster you can set the focus with the phone attached.

Sky-Watcher SkyMax-180 PRO EQ5 Pro: maximum planetary detail, automatically tracked

The 180/2700 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain (f/15) on the computerized EQ5 Pro SynScan mount with stainless steel tripod. At 270x, automatic tracking is not a luxury but a necessity: the SynScan mount keeps planets rock-steady in the view for minutes while you search for detail in the cloud bands.

Sky-Watcher SkyMax-180 PRO on EQ5 Pro SynScan GoTo mount

What do you see through the SkyMax-180 PRO?

The 180 PRO is the series’ “planetary cannon.” At a focal length of 2700 mm, the included 10 mm eyepiece already provides 270x magnification: levels of detail on Jupiter and Saturn that you’d normally only see in photographs—provided the sky cooperates. The Moon becomes an endless collection of ridges, crater chains, and mountain shadows. Double stars are its second specialty: the high resolution of the 180 mm objective lens resolves close pairs that smaller telescopes fail to separate.

EQ5 Pro SynScan: 42,800 objects at your fingertips

The equatorial GoTo mount tracks the rotation of the sky precisely, and the hand controller guides you through everything this optical system can handle: planets, the moon, double stars, and bright, compact deep-sky targets. For the 52 cm tube, the EQ5 is a suitable base; those with astrophotography ambitions should choose the HEQ5 version.

This is how to get the most out of this telescope

  • Give the thick correcting lens plenty of time to cool down. 45 to 60 minutes with these larger lenses. A Maksutov rewards patience with a silent image.
  • Protect against dew The front meniscus lens fogs up faster than a mirror. A dew shield is the most useful first upgrade for this type.
  • Align the mount to Polaris: For visual use, roughly north and the correct pole height are sufficient; after that, you can follow objects effortlessly.
  • Use a power tank: The SynScan mount runs on 12V and cold nights drain battery capacity.
  • Magnification: 108x and 270x are included in the box; that covers almost the entire range of this optics system.
  • Plan with the moon: Around the first quarter you see the most detail along the terminator. Our lunar calendar have the best nights in a row.

For whom yes and for whom no

Hello The moon and planet specialist, double star enthusiast, and urban observer: bright targets don't care much about light pollution. Unsure about the type? Our Telescope Buying Guide for Beginners List the considerations.

Not For wide deep-sky fields, the field of view of this long focal length is too narrow. Long-exposure deep-sky photography belongs to the smart telescopes or a bright Newtonian; moon and planetary shots are precisely a specialty of this optics.

Featured accessories

These accessories add the most after purchase:

  • Moon Filter 13%: with this opening, the moon is dazzlingly bright. The Omegon Moon Filter 13% (1.25 inches) dims the light and increases the contrast. More explanation in our Moon filter guide.
  • Smartphone adapter: It’s precisely with a Maksutov, with its long brand focal length, that moon photos taken with a phone are impressive. The Sky-Watcher SmartPhoto+ adapter comes with a special 20 mm photo eyepiece.
  • Carrier bag There is a perfectly fitting Maksutov 180 bag and a bag for the tripod. Take a look carrier bags.
