Omegon Pro RC 406/3250 Lightweight Truss OTA: 16 inch, light enough to dare
The Omegon Pro RC 406/3250 Lightweight Truss It is the top model in the RC line: a 16-inch aperture with a 3,250 mm brand focal point, equipped with a quartz honeycomb primary mirror that keeps the weight of this size manageable. The adjustable mirror mount and open carbon-fiber truss make this a fully-fledged observatory-grade instrument.
A Ritchey-Chrétien uses two hyperbolic mirrors: the design of virtually every professional observatory. The result is a large, coma-free field of view without a corrector: stars remain round all the way to the edges of the sensor.
The open carbon truss construction is the recipe of professional observatories: rigid, light, and thermally stable, with natural ventilation that prevents its own microclimate inside the tube. The built-in 12V fan cools the primary mirror up to twice as fast, so you're working at full sharpness sooner.

Observatory class without crane
The honeycomb primary mirror saves weight exactly where it matters most for a 16-inch telescope, while the quartz base keeps the focal point stable during temperature fluctuations. The ball-bearing-mounted 3-inch monorail focuser illuminates large-format sensors without vignetting.
Three extension tubes, powerful fan, adjustable mirror cell and Losmandy dovetail complete the equipment.

Featured accessories
The Omegon Pro UHC 2-inch filter (89 euros) brings out emission nebulae, and the Omegon Powerbank 10k 12V (39.90 euros) powers the fan and camera in the observatory.
For whom yes, for whom no
Who: observatories that want the maximum of the RC line with the lowest possible mirror mass. Not: those for whom the budget outweighs the weight; the standard RC 406/3250 Truss delivers the same aperture class for nineteen hundred euros less. Are you hesitating between the models?
