Omegon 154/1848 Cassegrain Newton: planetary contrast in a compact format

The Omegon 154/1848 Cassegrain delivers a long focal length of 1848 mm (f/12) in a tube shorter than many 80 mm refractors. The classic Cassegrain design, featuring a parabolic primary mirror with a secondary mirror, provides high magnification and high contrast for planets, double stars, and lunar craters, without chromatic aberration.

The long focal length makes high magnifications attainable with standard eyepieces and directly provides a usable image scale for planetary photography.

For balcony and permanent installation

With a 7 mm eyepiece you are at 264x, well within the practical maximum of about 300x. The collimation-stable, low-maintenance design and compact size make this tube ideal for balcony use and permanent setups with limited space.

The 2-inch rear connection accepts a focuser and accessories of your choice; a dust cap and Vixen dovetail are included.

Included

  • Cassegrain optics 154/1848 with parabolic primary mirror
  • 2-inch rear connection
  • Dust cover
  • Vixen-style dovetail

Featured accessories

The Omegon Cronus 7 mm eyepiece (79 euros) provides 264x for planetary detail, and the Omegon 7-21 mm zoom eyepiece (69 euros) continuously covers 88x to 264x. An Omegon Premium moon filter (19.90 euros) subdues the bright Moon.

For whom yes, for whom no

Pros: planet enthusiasts and beginner planetary photographers who want a long focal length in a small space. Cons: those looking for deep-sky or wide-field; at f/12 the field of view is too narrow for that. Hesitating between the models? The Choice assistant helpt. More Omegon is on the merk page.
