Omegon 50/600 Achromatic Refractor: The First Lens Telescope for Young Discoverers
The Omegon AC 50/600 AZ is a light, child-friendly telescope for 79 euros. With a 50mm aperture and 600mm focal length (f/12), it shows the Moon with craters, seas, and shaded areas. A real telescope, not a toy, but so simple that children can start using it right away.
The set is complete: azimuthal mount, aluminum tripod, two eyepieces, zenith mirror and finder. Set it up, aim, look.

Two eyepieces: 30x and 48x
With the 20mm eyepiece, you get 30x magnification: the entire moon disk is in view, clear and steady. The 12.5mm eyepiece gives you 48x for crater detail along the terminator. Practically, it can be used up to about 100x with extra eyepieces.
The f/12 optics are forgiving: the image remains sharp and color-true even with minor aiming errors.
Bright enough for the nursery
The whole set is so light that a child can carry it to the garden by themselves. The azimuthal mount moves up, down, left, and right: just as you would intuitively aim.
Included

Featured accessories
An Omegon Premium moon filter 1.25 inch (€19.90) dims the bright moonlight, as the Moon is the main target of this telescope. With the Omegon smartphone adapter 25-48 mm (€14.90), children can take their first moon photos through the eyepiece.
Never look at the sun through a telescope without a certified solar filter: this can cause permanent eye damage within a second. For the partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, the Bresser solar eclipse glasses (€3.20) are the safest way to watch with the naked eye.
For whom yes, for whom no
Suitable for: Children from about six years old and anyone looking for a real first telescope for less than eighty euros. Not suitable for: Those who want to see planets in detail; the Omegon AC 70/700 AZ-2 shows significantly more for fifty euros extra. Compare entry-level models via the Choice assistant.
