iOptron SkyHunter EQ/AZ GoTo Mount on Tripod: complete GoTo set for observation and astrophotography
The iOptron SkyHunter EQ/AZ combines two mounts in a 1.3 kg housing: altazimuth for quick visual observing, and with the included EQ base, equatorial for long-exposure astrophotography. This version includes the matching aluminum tripod, so you immediately have a complete setup.
The load capacity of 5 kg (11 lbs) is sufficient for small apochromats, compact telescopes, and cameras with telephoto lenses. The counterweight set keeps the setup in balance in the equatorial position.
Via the built-in WiFi, you control everything with SkySafari or iOptron Commander on your smartphone or tablet.
From observing to photographing
In AZ mode, the GoTo control system locates objects for visual use. On the EQ base, the mount tracks the sky around an axis parallel to the Earth's axis: field rotation disappears and exposures lasting minutes become possible.
Two DC servo motors with optical encoders provide control, with four tracking speeds for stars, landscape plus stars, sun, and moon, usable in both hemispheres.
Complete and travel-friendly
The mounting head weighs 1.3 kg and the complete set remains light enough for a pannier or carry-on luggage. The built-in rechargeable battery provides up to 10 hours of operating time at 20 degrees Celsius; connecting an external power supply is possible via USB.
In addition to WiFi control, ASCOM and INDI are supported, and the Go2Nova 8410 hand controller can optionally be connected.
