8-inch aperture for the price of an entry-level telescope

The GSO 200/1200 Dobsonian With its 200 mm parabolic mirror, it captures over 800 times more light than the naked eye. Fine lunar craters, Jupiter's cloud bands, Saturn's rings with the Cassini Division under good seeing conditions, and numerous nebulae and galaxies that remain invisible in smaller telescopes. The 2-inch Crayford focuser also makes the setup ready for wide-field eyepieces.

The classic eight inches: the best buying advice in one sentence

An 8-inch Dobsonian has been the go-to recommendation for decades for those who want to start seriously: maximum aperture, minimum complexity. Realistically usable up to about 400x; the Dutch atmosphere usually allows for around 300x. The 6x30 finder scope and two eyepieces make the set immediately complete.

For whom yes, for whom no

Recommended for: beginners or advanced users who want the tried-and-true 8-inch design at the best price. Not recommended for: those who prefer a better-known merk model with a broader ecosystem of accessories; in that case, consider the Sky-Watcher Skyliner 200P or the Omegon Advanced X 203.

3 reviews for GSO N 200/1200 – 200mm Dobson

  1. Tristan Roeleveld (verified owner) -

Top telescope, just had it in and tested it right away. I could see the rings of saturn well and among other things the orion nebula a lot better than my previous telescope which had a smaller diameter.
Helpful to look for a manual online of how to put it together yourself though because no manual was included.

  2. Tristan Roeleveld (verified owner) -

    Top telescope of good quality

  3. Brendan Deconynck (verified owner) -

Fast delivery and good product . Nothing to comment on .
