Slim stargazing from your first evening

The Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 70AZ is made for your very first steps in astronomy. This light 70 mm refractor works with the free StarSense Explorer app. Your smartphone thus becomes your personal guide to the starry sky. Within minutes, you'll be pointed at the Moon, Jupiter, or Saturn, without star charts and without technical knowledge.

StarSense Explorer LT 70AZ with smartphone in the StarSense dock

The StarSense Explorer app guides you

Place your smartphone in the StarSense dock and start the app. The phone's camera recognizes star patterns in the sky, a technique called plate solving. This allows the app to know exactly where the telescope is pointed. Arrows on the screen will guide you to your target. When the green reticle appears, you are looking through the eyepiece and the object is in view. The app also includes a list of the best objects for your location and time of night.

Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 70AZ, optical tube side view

Classic 70 mm optics with fully coated lenses

The 70mm achromatic lens with a 700mm focal length provides sharp, high-contrast images. You can see the craters on the Moon, the four large moons of Jupiter, and the rings of Saturn. With the included 25mm and 10mm eyepieces, you can view at 28x and 70x magnification. The Barlow lens doubles that magnification. Effectively usable magnification is up to approximately 140x, twice the lens aperture in millimeters.

Light, complete, and set up like that

The azimuthal mount moves smoothly in altitude and direction, precisely as you intuitively want to aim. The aluminum tripod is height-adjustable, even for children. The whole set weighs about 4 kg and is ready in minutes. The included zenith mirror provides an upright image: during the day, the telescope can therefore also be used for nature observation.

What's in the box?

  • Optical tube 70/700 with finder mount
  • StarSense smartphone dock

Recommended accessory

  • A moon filter (1.25 inch) It softens the harsh moonlight and brings out more detail in the craters. On a bright full moon, this is the first upgrade you should get.
