The lightest GoTo Maksutov: high magnification, small package

The Celestron NexStar 90 SLT is the most compact computerized telescope in the SLT line. The 90 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain with a 1250 mm focal length delivers sharp, high-contrast images of the Moon and planets, while the closed tube keeps out dust and air turbulence. The entire set is light enough to carry outside in one go.

SkyAlign: aligning on three arbitrary objects

Point the telescope at three bright celestial bodies, enter the time and location, and the computer will automatically recognize the sky. You can then navigate to more than 4,000 objects via the multilingual hand control, with automatic tracking. The 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces deliver 50x and 125x; realistically usable is up to about 180x.

For whom yes, for whom no

Pros: the balcony observer and traveler who wants maximum planetary detail with minimal weight, fully computer-controlled. Cons: those who want to see deep-sky objects; for that, the aperture is too small and the field of view too narrow. Choose the NexStar 130 SLT or a Newtonian reflector with a larger mirror instead.
