The bright Astro Fi: deep-sky via your smartphone

The Celestron Astro Fi 130 is the smart entry-level reflector with serious capabilities. The 130 mm mirror gathers 345 times more light than the naked eye: in addition to the Moon and planets, the first nebulae and star clusters also come within reach. You operate everything via the free SkyPortal app; the telescope broadcasts its own WiFi signal, so no internet is required.

The 650 mm focal length delivers clear, spacious images at low and medium magnification: ideal for the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades, and the Andromeda Galaxy. The 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces provide 26x and 65x; realistically usable up to about 260x with additional eyepieces or a Barlow.

SkyAlign and the SkyPortal app

Point the telescope at three bright objects without needing to know which ones, and the computer automatically determines your position. Afterward, you tap a target in the app and the GoTo mount slews to it, with automatic tracking. The app displays background information for each object, so you learn the sky as you observe.

Well suited for: the family or beginner who wants to explore both planets and the first deep-sky objects with a single modern setup, entirely via smartphone. Not suited for: anyone looking for maximum deep-sky detail; a Dobson with a larger mirror offers more aperture per euro.
