The Bresser AC 102S/600 Messier OTA combines a handy short tube with serious equipment: a 2.5-inch Hexafoc, T2 camera adapter, and Stellarium software. A versatile base for wide-field observation and the first steps in wide-field astrophotography.

Short achromatic with wide field of view

The 102 mm lens gathers about 212 times more light than the naked eye. With the 26 mm eyepiece, you get 23x magnification. Honest advice: at f/5.9, some chromatic aberration remains visible on bright objects; this tube is at its best in the mid-range between wide-field and detail, up to approximately 100x.

Which mount fits this?

The Bresser EXOS-1/EQ-4 mount with tripod (379 euros) carries this compact tube just fine; for photography, you choose the Bresser EXOS-2/EQ-5 mount on tripod (539 euros) or the Bresser EXOS-2 EQ GoTo mount (998 euros). Via the Vixen-style dovetail, the tube fits on any mount with a standard Vixen clamp.
