Omegon MightyMak 60 Maksutov: the backpack-Maksutov

The Omegon MightyMak 60 The smallest of the Maksutov series: a tube weighing only 0.6 kg with a 60 mm aperture and 700 mm brandfocal length (f/11.7). Complete with a table tripod and bag, the entire package weighs approximately 1.5 kg. It fits in almost any bag and is ready in seconds, at home on the table or on the go.

The MightyMak is a Maksutov-Cassegrain: a closed tube with a coated meniscus lens at the front. Dust and moisture stay out, collimation is rarely needed, and the lens suppresses reflections for a high-contrast image.

Omegon MightyMak 60 with zenith mirror and eyepiece

Long brandfocal length in a short tube

With the included 25 mm eyepiece, you can view at 28x: enough for the lunar disc with craters, the moons of Jupiter and the ring of Saturn. With additional eyepieces, it can be used at up to about 120x.

The 60 mm lens captures about 73 times more light than the naked eye. This is a specialist for the Moon, planets and nature, not for faint nebulas.

Also a telephoto lens and spotting scope

Via the T2 thread with a buffer ring, you connect a camera and use the MightyMak as a super telephoto lens. During the day, with the zenith mirror, it's a fully functional spotting scope for birds and landscapes: the image is upright.

Ready for a bigger tripod

The GP dovetail fits virtually any astronomical mount, and three photo tripod threads make any photo tripod usable. This telescope thus grows with a larger setup later on.

Featured accessories

A viewfinder base is attached to the tube: the Omegon LED red dot viewfinder (19.90 euros) makes aiming much faster. The Omegon Mini II Dobson mount (59 euros) transforms the tube into a complete table-mounted Dobson. The Omegon 7-21 mm zoom eyepiece (69 euros) provides stepless 33x to 100x magnification, and an Omegon Premium moon filter (19.90 euros) reduces the glare of the moon.

Never look at the sun through a telescope without a certified solar filter: this will cause permanent eye damage within a second.

For whom yes, for whom no

Well: travelers and nature enthusiasts who want the brightest full-size telescope available, or a second viewer for a vacation. Not: those who want to immediately start looking without buying any accessories; the MightyMak 60 Dobson and the Titania set are the same optics as more complete setups.
