ZWO AM3 Harmonic Mount (without or with tripod): the most compact serious mount for on the go
The AM3 brings the harmonic drive technology of the AM5 line to an even more compact size: 4 kg (8.8 lb) own weight with a 8 kg payload without counterweight and up to 13 kg with counterweight. Enough for an apochromat with camera, filter wheel, and guider, in a mount that fits in a backpack.
Each AM3 is individually tested and comes with a guaranteed periodic error of less than 20 arcseconds. The backlash-free strainwave drive follows smoothly and precisely, exactly what long exposures demand.
Two modes, one switch
The AM3 works in equatorial mode for astrophotography and in alt-azimuth mode for visual work or planets. A status LED shows the active mode: red for EQ, green for AZ. This way, the same mount is your visual base during the week and your photo platform on weekends.
Via the ST-4 guide port and full ASIAIR integration, you can control the entire setup wirelessly, without a laptop or cables across the grass.
Choose your version
The AM3 is available as a standalone mount or bundled with the carbon fiber tripod at a more affordable price. Those who already own a tripod with the correct connection can opt for the standalone version; for a complete mobile base, the combination with the carbon fiber tripod is the logical choice.
With a PE160 or PE200 pier extension, you increase the freedom of movement around the zenith, especially with longer tubes.
