What do you see through the Heritage 130P?
On the Moon you can see mountain ranges and craters along the boundary between day and night. Jupiter shows its cloud bands and four large moons, Saturn its rings. Under a dark sky the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades and the Andromeda Galaxy come within reach; visually you see them as gray light spots with structure, not in color as on photographs.
This is how to get the most out of this telescope
- Place it on a firm surface. A garden table or an upside-down crate works fine; a swinging camping table does not.
- Shield the open tube. A light shield (shroud) around the open part keeps stray light from lanterns out and provides more contrast.
- Check the collimation after transport. With the collimation cap, that is a two-minute check; our guide about it collimation explains it step by step.
For whom yes and for whom no
Hello Beginners and families who want a serious first telescope without the technicalities, and observers with little storage space. Our Heritage 130P review describes our own experience, including the shortcomings.
Not For long exposures of clouds, the manual setting is not available; please refer to the smart telescopes. Are you unsure about a size larger? In Heritage 130P vs 150P we put both of them side by side.
Featured accessories
- Moon Filter 25%: the Omegon Moon Filter 25% (1.25 inches) diminishes the harsh moonlight.
- Planetary clock of 6 mm: the Sky-Watcher 6mm Planetary UWA Eyepiece gives 108x for more detail on Jupiter and Saturn.
- Cheshire eyepiece with the Sky-Watcher Cheshire Eyepiece Line the mirrors more precisely than with the collimation cap.
