TeleVue Mount Head: Altazimuth Mount: standalone Tele-Pod head for your own tripod

The standalone Tele-Pod head is the altazimuth mount without tripod: the same head that serves on the Tele-Pod, Panoramic, and Gibraltar mounts, ready to be screwed onto a sturdy photo tripod or a custom pier.

For those who already own a heavy-duty tripod, this is the cheapest route to the TeleVue mounting experience.

The TeleVue Philosophy: Alt-Azimuth Without Electronics

TeleVue builds its mounts around a simple idea: grab, point, look. No polar alignment, no power, no menus. You push the telescope to your target, and friction holds it there.

The friction of the bearings is adjustable per axis, so tracking at high magnification is done with a fingertip. For visual observation with a refractor, this is the fastest route from the front door to the first object.

On your own tripod

The head is mounted to a sturdy photo tripod or column via the tripod mount in the base. The quality of that tripod then determines the result: the head itself adds no vibration.

The cradle accommodates the TeleVue tubes; you adjust the friction per axis by feel.
