The DeLite 18.2 mm is the longest focal length in the series and provides the largest field of view. With a field stop of 19.7 mm, it takes advantage of a significant portion of what a 1.25 inch lens allows.

The DeLite series is designed as a compact version of the Delos: the same principle of a long eye relief, but with a 62-degree field of view and a smaller housing. This makes the series suitable for mounts and binoviewers where weight is a factor.

The DeLite series is designed as a narrower Ethos field of view with more eye relief. By keeping the apparent field of view at 62 degrees, TeleVue was able to bring the eye relief to 20mm without making the eyepiece unmanageably large.

For eyeglass wearers, that's the difference between seeing the full field of vision and missing a part of it. Even without glasses, you're looking more relaxed because your eye doesn't have to push against the lens.

The lowest magnification of the series

For extended objects such as open star clusters, large nebulae, and the rich fields of the Milky Way, this is the model in the series that provides the most overview.

If you want a larger field of view, you need a 2 inch eyepiece. Within the 1.25 inch format, this focal length is close to the practical limit.

Interpupillary distance and adjustable eyecup

The eyecup is steplessly adjustable in height and lockable in any position, with index markings so you can find a previously found position. This ensures your eye's pupil is always in the same position relative to the telescope's exit pupil.

That's more than comfort. A misplaced eye causes edge discoloration and shadows in the image. With a fixed, repeatable eye position, that problem is gone, even during long sessions.

In your telescope

In a telescope with a 1200 mm focal length, this eyepiece provides approximately 66x with a true field of view of approximately 0.94 degrees. For your own telescope, calculate this using the field stop: where field of view = 57.3 x field stop divided by the telescope's focal length.

The effective field of view of this model is 19.7 mm. That number determines how much of the sky you actually see, not just the focal length alone.
