Sky-Watcher Star Discovery P150i: Six Inch with WiFi Pilot
The Sky-Watcher Star Discovery P150i combines a 150/750mm Newtonian (f/5) with an alt-azimuth WiFi GoTo mount: select objects in the SynScan app, and the telescope will point and track. Freedom Find encoders allow manual movement without realignment. Six inches of light-gathering power with the lowest operational threshold.
What do you see through the P150i?
Everything a 150mm mirror can do: sharp moon craters, Jupiter's cloud bands, Saturn's rings, and under a dark sky, star clusters that resolve and nebulae with structure. The automatic tracking keeps every target in view, even at higher magnifications, and the app tells you what's visible tonight.
WiFi GoTo with no learning curve
The mount creates its own WiFi network; internet is not required. After a brief alignment, the SynScan app guides you to thousands of objects. Thanks to Freedom Find, you can simply move the tube by hand in between: computer assistance without compulsion, on an alt-azimuth mount without counterweights.
This is how to get the most out of this telescope
- Check collimation after transport (f/5); see our guide to collimation.
- Take power with you A power bank will keep the GoTo mount going all evening.
- Let the mirror cool down for 30 minutes for the sharpest image.
- Magnification: the 10mm eyepiece gives 75x; a 6 mm planetary eyepiece (125x) gets more out of planets, and tracking keeps the image steady.
