An equatorial mount only performs when balanced: the counterweight compensates for the weight of the telescope and accessories, allowing the motors to run lightly and evenly. Too little counterweight means wear, tracking errors, and vibrations.
Small mounts require small corrections: with a weight of 0.7 and one of 1.6 kg, you can adjust the balance of your Star Adventurer GTi precisely to what is mounted on it that evening. Two weights provide more flexibility than one large block.
