Omegon MightyMak 80 Titania Dobsonian: The Mid-Size as a Complete Travel Set

The Omegon MightyMak 80 Titania is the 80/900 Maksutov (f/11.25) in the most complete version: on the renewed MiniDob II mount, with tripod for standing observation. Everything is included, from the finder to the carrying case.

The MightyMak is a Maksutov-Cassegrain: a closed tube with a coated meniscus lens at the front. Dust and moisture stay out, collimation is rarely needed, and the lens suppresses reflections for a high-contrast image.

MiniDob II with tripod: standing observation

The updated MiniDob II mount has rubber feet for grip on slippery surfaces and genuine Teflon pads for smooth, shock-free movements. New in this Titania set: the included tripod. This allows you to observe while standing, wherever you want, without needing to find a table.

What 80 mm opening shows

About 130 times more light than the naked eye. With the 25mm eyepiece, you observe at 36x; with additional eyepieces, up to about 160x is usable. Sharp moon craters, Jupiter's cloud bands, Saturn's rings, and during the day, birds and landscapes in an upright image.

Telephoto lens for your camera

Via the T2 thread with a buffer ring, you connect a camera and use the MightyMak as a super telephoto lens. During the day, with the zenith mirror, it's a fully functional spotting scope for birds and landscapes: the image is upright.

Featured accessories

The Omegon 7-21 mm zoom eyepiece (69 euros) provides stepless magnification from 43x to 129x. An Omegon Premium moon filter (19.90 euros) dims the bright moonlight, and the Omegon Easypic smartphone adapter (119 euros) turns every observation into a photo.

Never look at the sun through a telescope without a certified solar filter: this can cause permanent eye damage within a second. For the partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, the Bresser solar eclipse glasses (€3.20) are the safest way to watch with the naked eye.

For whom yes, for whom no

For those seeking a complete, portable set that works while standing, on a table, or during travel. Not for those who want the maximum detail from the series; the MightyMak 90 Titania captures roughly a quarter more light for an additional thirty euros.
