Omegon Argus Binoculars 16x70: Top optics in 70 mm, waterproof
The Argus line is Omegon's step up in optical quality: better glass types, a magnesium housing, and an edge sharpness that is immediately noticeable with stars. The 16×70 combines that with a field of view of 4.1 degrees, wider than most 15×70s, and an exit pupil of 4.3 mm.
Waterproof and nitrogen-filled, so dew and a wet field are no problem. A tripod adapter is in the box; at 16x you will need it.

Image quality
Stars are point sources and instantly betray mediocre optics. In the Argus 16×70 they remain sharp far toward the edge of the 65-degree apparent field. The Pleiades, the Andromeda Galaxy, and the region around Orion easily fit into the view, and the 19 light-gathering power keeps the background vibrant.
For the Moon and Jupiter's moons, 16x is a comfortable magnification; planetary detail remains out of reach.

Construction
Magnesium body, BaK-4 prisms, fully multi-coated, individual eyepiece focusing and fold-down eyecups. Waterproof and nitrogen-filled, tripod mount available. Interpupillary distance 56 to 70 mm.

Tripod
With the included adapter, it fits on any photographic tripod with a 1/4-inch thread. For extended upward viewing, the Omegon binocular mount with counterweight or the fork mount for large binoculars is a sensible step.
