Omegon Brightsky Binoculars 22×85: 85 mm all-rounder with phase coating

The Brightsky 22×85 falls between 80 and 100 mm class in terms of aperture and is the only viewer in this line with phase coating on the prisms. This provides a higher contrast and a neutral color rendering, daytimes for birds and ships and in the evenings for star clusters and the moon.

Rubber coating, waterproof and nitrogen-filled: he can be taken to the coast. With 4.8 kg, he should be mounted on a tripod or, better, on a fork lift.

Optics

BaK-4 prisms with phase coating and full multi-coating. The exit pupil of 3.9 mm at 22x provides clear vision in a moderately dark environment, and the light intensity of 15 keeps weaker objects visible. Focusing is done per eyepiece, after which the image remains sharp at a distance.

Comfort

With a 23 mm eye distance, wearers can see the entire field, even with the eyepieces folded. Fixed eyepieces, so no choice in magnification; however, there is 1.25 inch filter thread for lunar and nebular filters.

Mount

For day-time observations, a sturdy tripod with a three-way head is sufficient. For the night sky, the Omegon fork mount for large binoculars is the logical base: 4.8 kg falls well within the carrying capacity.
