Omegon AC 60/700 AZ-1: The Complete Beginner Set with Erecting Prism

The Omegon AC 60/700 AZ-1 is a compact refracting telescope for children and beginners. The 60 mm lens and 700 mm focal length (f/11.7) provide clear, stable images of the Moon and planets, and thanks to the included 1.5x erecting lens, it also functions as a terrestrial telescope with an upright image during the day.

The AZ-1 mount makes aiming intuitive: up, down, left, right. No alignment, no technique, just look.

Three eyepieces, Barlow, and erect image prism

With the H 20 mm and H 12.5 mm eyepieces, you observe at 35x and 56x: the usable working range for the Moon, planets, and nature. The SR 4 mm eyepiece promises 175x on paper, but practically, with a 60 mm aperture, about 120x is the limit; only use that eyepiece in very calm air.

The 2x Barlow lens doubles any magnification, and the red dot finder makes aiming easy.

From starry sky to nature

With the erector lens, the image is upright, allowing you to spot birds, ships, or a church tower during the day. This way, a beginner learns to focus and aim during the day before it gets dark.

Featured accessories

An Omegon Premium moon filter 1.25 inch (€19.90) dims bright moonlight. The Omegon 7-21 mm zoom eyepiece (€69) replaces individual eyepieces with a continuously variable range of 33x to 100x magnification, and with the Omegon smartphone adapter 25-48 mm (€14.90), you can capture the Moon.

Never look at the sun through a telescope without a certified solar filter: this can cause permanent eye damage within a second. For the partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, the Bresser solar eclipse glasses (€3.20) are the safest way to watch with the naked eye.

For whom yes, for whom no

For beginners looking for a complete set for around 100 Euros for both day and night use. Not for those who primarily want planetary detail; the AC 70/700 AZ-2 offers more aperture for an additional thirty Euros. Compare entry-level models via the Choice assistant.
