Omegon 90/1000 EQ-2 Refractor Telescope: The Serious Step Up from Entry-Level

The Omegon 90/1000 EQ-2 It is the natural successor to models like the 70/900: a larger aperture, a sturdier EQ-2 mount, and a 6×30 optical viewfinder. The 90 mm lens captures about 165 times more light than the naked eye, and the long focal length of 1,000 mm (f/11.1) keeps planets sharp and true to color.

The achromatic doublet lens with multi-coating combines two types of glass to reduce chromatic aberration. At high magnification, a thin color fringe remains visible around bright objects; this is characteristic of this type of lens and does not interfere with normal use.

The Omegon 90/1000 EQ-2 Mount

EQ-2: more stable tracking at higher magnifications

The EQ-2 stabilizes the long merk tube more smoothly than an EQ-1 and is controlled by a knob mounted on a shaft. The 6×30 optical finder scope reveals even fainter stars, allowing you to locate objects faster than with a red dot sight.

Eyepieces and Barlow lens of the Omegon 90/1000

40x to 180x with the included set

With the 25mm and 10mm eyepieces, you observe at 40x and 100x. The 2x Barlow doubles this; the practical maximum with a 90mm aperture is around 180x. The Barlow combined with the 10mm (200x) is theoretically over that: save that for exceptionally calm nights.

Included

  • AC-optics 90/1000 with multicoating
  • EQ-2 parallactic mount
  • Adjustable height aluminum tripod
  • 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces (1.25 inch)
  • 2x Barlow lens
  • Optical 6x30 finder scope

Featured accessories

An Omegon Premium 1.25 inch moon filter (€19.90) is not an unnecessary luxury with a 90 mm aperture. The Omegon Cronus 7 mm eyepiece (€79) provides a fixed 143x magnification for planets, and with the Omegon smartphone adapter 25-48 mm (€14.90), you can capture images of the Moon.

Never look at the sun through a telescope without a certified solar filter: this will cause permanent eye damage within a second.
