Omegon 114/1368 Cassegrain Newtonian: compact planetary specialist for balconies and fixed setups

The Omegon 114/1368 Cassegrain is a specialist: 114 mm aperture with a long focal length of 1368 mm (f/12) in a short, closed tube. The classic Cassegrain design works entirely with mirrors, thus without chromatic aberration, and delivers the high contrast that planets, double stars, and the Moon demand.

This is a standalone tube (OTA) without a mount: light enough for a medium-duty mount and compact enough for a balcony or permanent setup.

f/12: made for high magnification

With a 10 mm eyepiece you are already at 137x and with a 7 mm eyepiece at 195x, just below the practical maximum of about 230x. The long focal length makes high magnifications achievable with ordinary eyepieces, without Barlow stacking.

Even for beginner planet photographers, f/12 is interesting: the image scale is directly suitable for capturing images of the Moon and planets with a camera on the 1.25-inch holder.

Closed and low-maintenance

The sealed tube keeps dust out and the centered optics require little maintenance. This makes it an instrument you can use for years without hassle, even under city lights: planets and the Moon are largely unaffected by light pollution.
