The National Geographic 76/700 EQ offers beginner stargazers a stable and versatile start. The 76 mm mirror and 700 mm focal length (f/9.2) show the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and bright deep-sky objects with a bright, high-contrast image. The Newtonian design is free of chromatic aberration and provides a natural, sharp view.

Follow the stars in a fluid motion

The EQ-1 equatorial mount tracks celestial objects in a single motion, rather than continuously correcting in two directions. The slow-motion control keeps planets and the Moon precisely in view, which is pleasant for longer observations or when observing with multiple people. The counterweight provides balance and extra stability.

Complete set, start directly

The box contains everything for the first evening: three eyepieces (25mm, 12.5mm, and 9mm), a 3x Barlow lens, a 1.5x erecting lens for terrestrial observations, a 5x24 finder scope, and a moon filter. A realistic useful magnification is up to about 150x, twice the aperture in millimeters; you'll primarily use the Barlow with the longer eyepieces.

Lightweight and portable

The aluminum tube is lightweight and sturdy. This makes it easy to take the telescope to a dark spot outside the city, where deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula and the Double Cluster in Perseus are better showcased.

What you see with it

Craters, lunar maria, and shadow features on the Moon, the rings of Saturn and, with good seeing, the Cassini Division, the cloud bands and four largest moons of Jupiter, and bright deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula and the Pleiades.
