The B1800 blocking filter offers 18mm of clear aperture, providing significantly more margin for large camera sensors, binoviewers, and higher magnifications without vignetting. Lunt specifically recommends the B1800 for focal lengths around 560mm with this telescope.
B1800: Made for large sensors
With 18 mm free aperture, the B1800 also fully illuminates an APS-C sensor. This means full-disk imaging with a lot of detail, comfortable use with binoviewers, and ample fine-tuning for prominence photography. The zenith mirror is 2 inches with a T2 camera connection.
Obstruction-free 80mm FPL-53 optics
The 80 mm unobstructed aperture utilizes the full resolving power: layered prominences, filaments, plages, spicule fields, and active regions in high resolution. You tune the etalon with a bandwidth less than 0.7 Ångström with the durable Pressure-Tuner.
Modular: also a night telescope
Remove the eyepiece from the tube and the LS80MT is an 80mm f/7 ED refractor with FPL-53 glass for moon, planets, and bright nebulae. The 2-inch rack-and-pinion focuser with 1:10 fine adjustment supports heavy cameras stably, day and night.

An H-alpha solar telescope is safe for solar observation due to its closed filter system. Check the etalon and blocking filter for damage before each use. Never look at the sun through an ordinary telescope, binoculars, or finder without a certified solar filter on the objective end.
