iOptron SkyHunter AZ Mount GoTo Without Tripod: compact GoTo head for your own tripod

The iOptron SkyHunter AZ is a 1.3 kg altazimuth GoTo mount for telescopes and telephoto lenses up to 5 kg (11 lbs). This version comes without a tripod: you mount the head on any sturdy photographic tripod with a 3/8 or 1/4 inch connection.

Control is handled via the built-in WiFi with SkySafari or iOptron Commander on your smartphone or tablet. The mount locates objects automatically and tracks them using two servo motors with optical encoders.

Ideal for those who already own a good tripod and want to put together a minimal, lightweight GoTo setup.

GoTo in your back pocket

After a brief alignment on one or two stars, the SkyHunter navigates autonomously to planets, double stars, and bright deep-sky objects. Computer control is possible via ASCOM or INDI, and the optional Go2Nova 8410 hand controller is also supported.

Four tracking speeds (stars, half star speed, sun, and moon) work in both hemispheres.

The Vixen saddle accepts telescopes, spotting scopes, and telephoto lenses with a Vixen-style rail.
