iOptron AZ Pro Mount GoTo Tri-Pier: alt-azimuth GoTo mount on Tri-Pier
The iOptron AZ Mount Pro is an alt-azimuth GoTo mount with a payload capacity of 15 kg (33 lbs). This version comes on the iOptron Tri-Pier, a pier tripod with a 100 kg payload capacity and vibration-damping feet. The combination is intended for visual observation with medium-sized refractors, Maksutovs, and Schmidt-Cassegrains up to approximately 9.25 inches.
iOptron calls the startup procedure Level and Go. You level the mount using the built-in bubble level and turn it on. The 32-channel GPS receiver and position sensors determine the telescope's location and orientation. The mount then slews automatically to a bright object; you center it and the alignment is complete.

Level and Go alignment
You don't need to know star names or coordinates. After leveling, the mount itself chooses a bright celestial body for alignment. A single centering step is sufficient to activate GoTo and tracking.
The Go2Nova 8407+ hand controller features an 8-line backlit LCD screen and a database of over 212,000 objects. Via the built-in WiFi, you can also control the mount wirelessly with SkySafari or iOptron Commander; ASCOM control via PC is likewise possible.

Internal battery and quiet motors
The built-in lithium-ion battery (11.1 V, 4.4 Ah) provides up to 10 hours of operating time at 20 °C. You can therefore observe for an entire evening without a separate power supply. Charging is done using the included adapter.
The stepper motors operate quietly and efficiently. The dual saddle accepts both Vixen and Losmandy profiles. The retractable counterweight shaft with the 4.5 kg counterweight keeps heavier tubes in balance; with the optional second saddle, you can mount a lightweight second telescope.

Tri-Pier as a fixed base
The Tri-Pier combines the rigidity of a pier with the leg adjustment of a tripod. The height is adjustable from 80 to 108 cm, and the feet feature integrated vibration dampening pads. You can set up the kit stably even on uneven ground.
For transport, the mounting head goes into the supplied aluminum case. The head weighs 5.9 kg, making it easily portable for a mount in this class.
