The classic long Newtonian for those who want to start seriously

The Celestron PowerSeeker 114 EQ is a classic Newtonian reflector with a full-length tube. The 114 mm mirror collects 265 times more light than the naked eye: lunar craters in detail, the rings of Saturn, the cloud belts of Jupiter, and bright deep-sky objects such as the Orion Nebula. The 900 mm focal length (f/7.9) provides stable, sharp images at medium and high magnification.

Equatorial tracking

The German equatorial mount tracks the rotation of the Earth with a single slow-motion control, keeping objects in view longer than on a simple altazimuth mount. The aluminum tripod with accessory tray keeps eyepieces within arm's reach. In this way, you immediately learn the operating method that also belongs to advanced telescopes.

Honest about the enlargement

Included are 20 mm and 4 mm eyepieces plus a 3x Barlow lens. The 20 mm eyepiece (45x) is your workhorse, optionally with the Barlow at 135x. The 4 mm eyepiece (225x) is at the theoretical limit of this optics; do not combine it with the Barlow, because above approximately 228x, extra magnification only yields a darker and blurrier image. A 10 mm eyepiece will be a useful upgrade later.
