Schmidt-Cassegrain quality in the lightest GoTo package

The Celestron NexStar 5 SLT brings the famous C5 optics to the accessible SLT line. The 125mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain offers high-contrast views of the Moon and planets in a short, lightweight tube. The computer-controlled SLT mount finds and tracks thousands of objects automatically via SkyAlign alignment.

Sealed optics with StarBright XLT coating

The Schmidt-Cassegrain design folds the light path, allowing for a long focal length in a tube less than 30 cm long. Its closed construction protects against dust and air currents, and the StarBright XLT coating maximizes light transmission. With the 25mm eyepiece, you get 50x magnification; realistic usable magnification up to about 250x for planetary detail.

SkyAlign automatic tracking

Point at three random bright objects and the computer recognizes the sky: no astronomy knowledge is needed. The illuminated hand control accesses over 4,000 objects and the mount automatically tracks any target. Via the optional SkyPortal WiFi module, you can control the system from your smartphone if desired.

Ideal for those seeking premium optics in the lightest computerized package, with a focus on the Moon, planets, and compact deep-sky objects. Not ideal for those who want to view expansive nebulae; a faster Newtonian like the NexStar 130 SLT will offer a wider field of view for that.
