The large refractor on the heaviest AstroMaster mount

The Celestron AstroMaster 90 CG-3 Mount the 90mm refractor on the sturdiest mount from the AstroMaster line. The 1000mm focal length delivers sharp, high-contrast images with ample magnification for lunar and planetary work, and the CG-3 equatorial mount keeps that image steady even at higher magnifications. The included Amici prism provides an upright, correctly mirrored image: an excellent terrestrial telescope for daytime use as well.

CG-3: More stability, smoother tracking

The CG-3 is heavier and stiffer than the CG-2 found on smaller models: vibrations are dampened faster, and the slow-motion control runs smoother. After an initial polar alignment, you can track any object with a single rotating motion. The 20mm and 10mm eyepieces provide 50x and 100x magnification; realistically usable magnification goes up to around 180x.

For: those looking for a classic refractor telescope for years of Moon and planet observation, with the most stable base in this segment. Not for: those who primarily want to observe nebulae and galaxies; choose the AstroMaster 130 EQ instead, with its larger mirror and wider field of view.
