The 130 EQ with tracking motor: focus and keep looking

The Celestron AstroMaster 130 EQ-MD This is the motorized version of the brightest AstroMaster. The same 130mm mirror with a 650mm focal length, but the included tracking motor on the right ascension axis takes over tracking for you: polar align once and objects stay in view by themselves. This makes high magnification comfortable and stargazing with the family much more relaxed.

Why a chase motor makes a difference

The Earth rotates, so without a motor, every object walks out of the frame within a minute. The tracking motor continuously compensates for that rotation. Anyone who wants to can even try taking their first simple moon photos with a smartphone adapter because the image stands still. The 20 mm and 10 mm eyepieces deliver 33x and 65x; realistically usable is up to about 260x.

For whom yes, for whom no

For: those who want a bright 130 mm field of view without manual adjustments, and perhaps want to try simple moon photography. Not for: those who want objects to be automatically found; that is the domain of the computer-controlled NexStar SLT line.
