The 100mm planet tube for every Vixen mount!
The Bresser Messier 100/1400 Maksutov OTA delivers a 1400mm focal length in a closed tube less than half a meter long. Mounted on your own mount, it becomes a specialist for the Moon, planets, and double stars, and during the day with the zenith prism, also for nature observation.
Maintenance-free Maksutov optics
The meniscus lens corrects aberrations almost completely: no chromatic aberration, small obstruction, high contrast. With the 26mm eyepiece, you observe at 54x; consider around 200x as the maximum (f/14). Collimation is rarely needed. Allow for 30 to 45 minutes of cool-down time for the sharpest image.
Which mount fits this?
The light, short tube rests calmly on virtually any mount: the Bresser EXOS-1/EQ-4 mount with tripod (€379) is generously sized, and a sturdy azimuthal mount with a Vixen clamp also works well visually.
