The sun in H-alpha, for a fraction of the usual price

The Acuter Elite Phoenix 40 brings H-alpha solar observation within reach. Where a white-light solar telescope is limited to sunspots, the Phoenix 40's 40mm front etalon reveals the dynamic chromosphere: prominences curling off the limb, dark filaments across the disk, and solar flares at active regions. The bandwidth of 0.6 Angstrom or better provides the contrast that makes these details visible.

Pressure tuning and a spacious block filter

You adjust the etalon using pressure tuning: by regulating the pressure, the aperture slides precisely over the H-alpha line, uniformly across the entire image. The block filter has an 8 mm aperture, which is wider than usual for this class, providing a noticeably larger field of view both visually and when using smartphones or cameras.

Zoom ocular and smartphone adapter included

The included 5-16mm zoom eyepiece continuously switches between 25x and 80x magnification: from the full solar disk to a close-up of a prominence. With the universal smartphone adapter, you can immediately capture your observations. Via the mounting rail, you can attach the compact, lightweight tube to an azimuthal mount or a sturdy tripod.

What you see with it

Prominences: gigantic loops of gas erupting from the sun's surface. Solar flares: powerful bursts of energy from active regions. And surface detail: granulation, plages, and fine structures around sunspots, which change from day to day and sometimes hour to hour.

An H-alpha solar telescope is safe for solar observation due to its closed filter system. Check the etalon and blocking filter for damage before each use. Never look at the sun through an ordinary telescope, binoculars, or finder without a certified solar filter on the objective end.
